Swimmer Signup - FINAL SWIMMER DECLARATION AND MEET PREFERENCES ARE DUE BY MONDAY AT NOON THE WEEK OF THE MEET. 

Swimmer DECLARATION (Attending/Not Attending) for meets is available at the beginning of the season for the entire season. In other words, if you know your schedule, you can declare for all meets at the beginning of the season. IF YOUR SCHEDULE CHANGES PLEASE BE SURE TO UPDATE YOUR DECLARATION IN THE SYSTEM.

Swimmers will be allowed to indicate which events they'd like to swim at each meet. Coaches will have final say on swimmer events, swimmers are just selecting their PREFERENCES. Swimmers can always talk to coaches directly about their events at practice.

Specify your swimmer's availability for relays from the drop down options. Again, IF AVAILABILITY CHANGES, PLEASE BE SURE TO UPDATE AVAILABILITY IN THE SYSTEM.

Click the green MEET ENTRY tab, and then click the green Edit tab under your athletes' names.

Click Save to record your choices.

Be on time

Warm-ups for both teams will be held prior to the meet. Failure to show up or be on time not only affects the swimmer, but the team. If your swimmer is signed up to swim the relay and for some reason you cannot stay, or make it, PLEASE INFORM the coaches immediately. A relay has four swimmers and if one isn't there, the whole relay team has to be reconfigured or forfeit. It is very disappointing to the other swimmers when one swimmer fails to show up.

MEET START TIME: All Southland Swim Association dual meets start at 5:30PM on Wednesdays. Should it rain on a Wednesday meet, the make-up meet will be the next day (Thursday). ARRIVAL TIME: Please arrive at the pool on time for all meets. Approximate arrival time for home meets is 4:30pm. Approximate arrival time for away meets is 5:00pm.

MEET END TIME: Time length of meets will vary based on the number of swimmers competing, size of the pool, etc. Most meets are over between 8:30 and 9:00 pm.

What to Bring:

• Team Shirt
• Team Cap 
• Goggles
• Towel
• Water bottle
• Snacks or money for food
• Chair, picnic blanket or extra towel to sit on
• A sharpie marker to mark your swimmer’s arm
• PLEASE label all items!!

Upon Arrival

Ensure your swimmer has sunscreen on and is marked up with his/her event information. If you are new to swim team, there will be plenty of "old-timers" who can help you with this!

VOLUNTEERS: If you have signed up to volunteer PLEASE check in with our volunteer coordinator as soon as you get to the pool. We need to know that all volunteers are accounted for.

During the meet

SWIMMERS: First and foremost, have fun! Do your best and enjoy the meet. Encourage each other and cheer loud! Stay in the pool area! Our zookeepers need to be able to locate swimmers at the necessary times for races.

SWIMMER LINEUP: Zookeepers will find swimmers based on gender and age group for races. They will take them to designated chairs where they will be "staged" for their races. After a heat goes, the whole group of swimmers in the next heat move up a row of chairs.

HEAT RIBBONS: This is a reward for working hard in practice and improving their time to achieve first place in their heat. Please explain to your children the intention of heat ribbons and the importance of being a good sport. Heat ribbons are given to the first swimmer to touch the wall, they may still be DQ’d depending on stroke judge. Heat ribbons are only given for swimmers 10 and under. Heat ribbons are not given for relays.

DISQUALIFIED: Swimmers will be DQ'd (disqualified) for improper strokes. If your child is DQ'd please assure your swimmer that it is okay and how proud you are of them for trying. The coaches do get a list of what the swimmer was DQ'd for and they will go over with the swimmers in practice!

SPORTSMANSHIP: All swimmers and parents acknowledge the SSA Code of Conduct each year when registering for the team SSA Code of Conduct We do not tolerate inappropriate, disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behavior.

PLACE RIBBONS: Place ribbons are awarded to 1st through 8th place in individual events and 1st through 6th place in relay events.
